The IICRC, or the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification, has played a significant role in the cleaning and restoration industry by establishing and promoting industry standards. Coming over to the Cleaning Industry from Municipal Water and Applied Science there wasn't many places to find standards outside of flimsy instructions from the manufactures of building materials. When the architectural firm, Thompson Phalen used three kinds of tiles on the new Westshore Bank lobby floor, each with different cleaning recommendations, for contrast, we had to just trial and error, figure it out back in those days.
