Here's a green formula for a window cleaning solution that you can use, similar to Dawn dish soap.

This recipe is for a 25-gallon batch. To make a 2.5 gallon batch (enough for a single cleaning) simply move the decimal point one place to the left.

Ingredients:

1. Distilled Water: 24 gallons

2. White Vinegar: 1 gallon

3. Liquid Castile Soap (unscented): 1 cup

4. Essential Oil (optional, for fragrance): 10-15 drops (e.g., lemon or tea tree oil)

Instructions:

1. Gather Supplies: Make sure you have a large container (at least 25 gallons) for mixing, measuring cups, and a stirring tool.

2. Mix the Solution:

- Begin by pouring 24 gallons of distilled water into your large container.

- Add 1 gallon of white vinegar to the water. Vinegar acts as a natural cleaner and helps to cut through grime.

- Measure 1 cup of liquid Castile soap and add it to the mixture. This will provide the cleaning power similar to dish soap without harsh chemicals.

- If you'd like to add a pleasant scent, include 10-15 drops of your chosen essential oil.

3. Stir Thoroughly: Use a long stirring tool to mix the solution thoroughly. Ensure that all ingredients are well combined, but avoid creating too many bubbles.

4. Storage: Pour the finished solution into clean spray bottles or other containers for easy use. Make sure to label them clearly as window cleaning agent

Usage:

- Spray the solution onto the windows and wipe with a microfiber cloth or a squeegee for a streak-free finish.

Notes:

- Store the solution in a cool, dark place to maintain its effectiveness.

- Shake well before each use to ensure the ingredients are properly mixed The solution will stay fresh for about a month.

When I was a child in primary school, my peers laughed when I wrote "dose" rather than "does" on the board. So naturally I overcompensated by studying that much harder and more often than most. In those days dyslexia was undiagnosed and I am so grateful for that. I might not have worked so hard. I made it through college on the Dean's list and earned my degree, interned at a lab and eventually became an environmental scientist and engineer.

Now I'm old and sick so I called in the big guys from one of national companies and he laughed at me for showcasing science on my website. (e..g. Temperature Agitation Cleaning Agent and dwell Time, or TACT)

"It is just cleaning" he told me.

My how our culture has changed. (Not the unkindness, that is the same, what I am referring to is the respect and admiration for our learned abilities)

This green window cleaning solution is effective and environmentally friendly! Enjoy your cleaning!
